چکیده

Introduction Catheter ablation is used to control ventricular arrhythmias (VT/VF) in a multitude of substrates. MR can delineate regions of scar and may guide ablation procedures, however the presence of an ICD has been an issue both for safety and MR image quality. Recent studies have demonstrated acceptable safety for scanning of device patients in certain circumstances, but efficacy has not been evaluated.

Catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia in ischaemic and non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy: where are we today? A clinical review.

According to the current guidelines, patients with ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) or non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) at risk for sudden cardiac death should undergo implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). Although ICDs effectively terminate ventricular arrhythmias, the arrhythmogenic substrate remains unchanged or may progress over time, resulting in recurrent ICD s...

Clinical and electrophysiologic outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous endocardial ablation of scar-related ventricular tachycardia: a single-center experience.

BACKGROUND For patients with ventricular tachyarrhythmias, implantable cardioverter defibrillators are a mainstay of therapy to prevent sudden death. However, ICD shocks are painful, can result in clinical depression, and do not offer complete protection against death from arrhythmia. Radiofrequency catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia in the setting of ischemic cardiomyopathy has emerg...

Risks and Benefits of Catheter Ablation of Ventricular Tachycardia in Patients with an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator

Patients with an implantable cardioverterdefibrillator (ICD) may receive frequent shocks or antitachycardia pacing for monomorphic ventricular tachycardia despite suppressive drug therapy. Antitachycardia pacing is often well-tolerated but not always effective. High voltage cardioversion is usually painful and may cause severe, disabling anxiety for some patients. Therefore, catheter ablation i...

Should catheter ablation be the preferred therapy for reducing ICD shocks?: Ventricular tachycardia ablation versus drugs for preventing ICD shocks: role of adjuvant antiarrhythmic drug therapy.

In 1980, Mirowski et al1 implanted the first implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) in a young female with recurrent ventricular fibrillation and provided an innovative approach to aborted sudden cardiac death (SCD). Although the ICD was considered a treatment of last resort during that incipient stage, subsequent years have witnessed prolific expansion of indications for ICD implantation...

Catheter ablation for ventricular tachyarrhythmia in patients with channelopathies

Drug treatment and/or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation are the most widely accepted first-line therapies for channelopathic patients who have recurrent syncope, sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT), or documented ventricular fibrillation (VF), or are survivors of cardiac arrest. In recent years, there have been significant advances in mapping techniques and ablation t...
